Claim management

Claim management is especially important for large projects. Indeed, shortcomings in the planning can have very costly consequences later on in the construction phase. Supplementary service management involves monitoring and assessing discrepancies or changes and their economic consequences so as to determine and assert claims. Supplementary services are rarely entirely avoidable; the art lies in identifying possible planning errors and potential risks that may lead to supplementary services at an early stage and rectifying them before the implementation phase. Changes during the construction phase and planning errors tend to have a domino effect, leading to a whole series of supplementary services entailing considerable costs.

During the contract awarding phase, it is moreover important to identify the companies whose offers will lead to supplementary services. The service specifications must be scrutinised and reviewed accordingly so as to minimise subsequent cost increases.
